Agencia Invited to Speak at International Justice Conference in Ukraine

East Yorkshire based Agencia Consultant Steve Jacobs, has been invited to speak at a prestigious international conference on strategic planning for the judiciary. The conference is being held in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, and has attracted high profile speakers including Ukrainian and international experts on the judiciary.

Hosted by the Council of Judges and State Judicial Administration of Ukraine, together with the United States’ government agency that provides U.S. economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide (USAID), the conference will include representatives of courts and organisations in Europe and the United States, representatives of civil society, including non-governmental organisations, such as lawyers, judges, and business associations, think tanks, universities, and media, representatives of the Ministry of Justice and Ukrainian judicial institutions.

Commenting on his invitation to speak at the conference, Steve said “a strong, independent, and efficient judicial system is not possible without a coordinated and agreed upon strategy and detailed implementation plan that is supported by both judicial leadership and court administration personnel. I am delighted to accept the invitation to share the knowledge and expertise that Agencia has acquired from undertaking significant judicial reform work in the Balkans.”

Steve joined Agencia from Her Majesty's Magistrates' Court Service Inspectorate (MCSI).  Since joining Agencia, Steve has led Agencia’s criminal justice work in the UK, and now leads the company’s international work.  In the UK, he has undertaken evaluative work for the Youth Justice Board for England & Wales, and the Prison Service, and been involved with Agencia's various community justice projects.  Internationally, Steve has been involved in court reform projects in Bosnia & Herzegovina and Ukraine, and a community policing project in Croatia.  Steve is currently engaged in reform programmes in Croatia, Nigeria and Serbia.  This work is mainly undertaken on behalf of the UK's Department for International Development (DFID) and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO).
