Ministry of Defence/Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust
Agencia has had a long standing relationship with the Guys’ and St Thomas’ team in Germany, where they provide medical services for UK forces and their families stationed in five regional centres, on behalf of the UK Ministry of Defence.
This includes use of 5 major German hospitals together with a range of community-based services. Our work has been to develop quality assurance and contract monitoring arrangements based on assessing the views, priorities and experiences of patients.
Obtaining the views of Young People
The overall aim of the project, undertaken on behalf of Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, was to gain the views of children and young people within British Forces Germany in line with the principles of the Children Act 2004 and the National Service Framework for Children, Young People and Maternity Services 200.Also to establish the feasibility of developing a survey or surveys as a means of obtaining the views of children and young people covering all aspects of BFGHS care. Agencia input included updating the team on the Children Act and the National Service Framework, and also assessing methods of direct child feedback in use in UK, the relative merits of direct child feedback versus parental feedback and consideration of alternative methods.
Maternity Services Feedback
As part of a continuing programme of work for Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Agencia was commissioned to lead the development of feedback mechanisms for users of maternity services provided for UK forces families in Germany. Following a series of professional workshops and focus groups with users, the Agencia team developed survey tools.
