Richard Turner, Senior Consultant

Richard has over 30 years experience of working in the NHS at consultant and director level. Previous posts have included Director of Public Health in a Primary Care Trust (PCT), Head of Policy Analysis, Quality Assurance Manager and Regional Information Specialist. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health, has a diploma in Health Economics and is registered as a chartered engineer with the British Computer Society. He acts as a consultant to the Office of National Statistics as well has having been involved as a consultant to a number of organisations developing Medical Information Systems and carrying out research projects in medical informatics. Richard has continuing interests in health economics.
In his PCT he was mainly involved in developing partnership arrangements between health, social services, the City Council and voluntary organisations to meet the needs of particular groups of patients and communities. This included epidemiology and statistics, health needs analysis, producing reports for publication and working with clinicians and managers on developing clinical pathways in a number of specialties. He has many years' experience in chairing strategy groups across Yorkshire and Humberside relating to monitoring health outcomes, child health, immunisation, and cancer, with particular responsibility for breast and cervical screening services. He has been an honorary lecturer in Public Health in Bradford and Hull Universities, and was a consultant to the British Council on developing the medical epidemiology courses in several Nigerian universities.
