Graham Johnson, Senior Consultant

DMS

Graham Johnson is an experienced retired Senior Prison Governor from the UK Prison Service with thirty three years experience. He has spent the last eighteen years in middle and Senior Management positions.

From 2003-2005 he moved to the prison service headquarters where he was the performance improvement manager for the prison service in England and Wales.  His role was to innovate and project manage improvements supported by a team of consultants nationally.  The objective was to raise public sector performance and deliver improvements that would match private sector delivery.

He has worked internationally for the past five years delivering European Union projects, training seminars and peer reviews.  In Bulgaria he worked for the Ministry of Justice as a Resident Twinning Advisor to their penitentiary system from September 2005 to 2007 and 2008-2010 delivering EU institution building projects.  During 2007 he was part of the lead team who delivered the cost reduction strategy for HM Prison Service.

In 2010 as a Prison Lead Consultant he was part the bid team that successfully won the contract to run HMP Birmingham and Featherstone II for G4S.  He remains a strong supporter of Public Private Partnerships as a way to drive out public sector inefficiencies and drive up performance.

Graham is dedicated to the training and development of managers within the custodial environment, and continues to work to work closely with private sector providers.  He is delivering EU Project work in Macedonia, Serbia and Albania.
